Short description:
This path leads around the nice area of the village "Fischerndorf", along the lake and is passing homes and summer residences of famous artists. The theme path VIA ARTIS consists of five stations.

Beginning and end of the VIA ARTIS ALTAUSSEE is the museum of literature in the town hall of Altaussee at the park.

Description:
Already in the 19th century the archduke "Erzherzog Johann" discoverd the Ausseerland as its place to rest, relax and find peace in the middle of this beautiful landscape.

Many artists, such as actors, poets and painters, as well as scientists and scholars came to our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut.

The VIA ARTIS presents the traces of these famous people in our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut, which chose this place as their adopted place of resicdence. While enjoying the unique beauty of the entire landscape you will discover many things about the historical and cultural past.

Directions:
Station I to station II:

200 meters, about 10 minutes

The VIA ARTIS leads from the park, where there is also station I, along the main road westwards passing the primary school to a crossing, where you have to take the left turn in direction to the lake. A small road leads you after about 100 meters to station II.

Station II to station III:

300 meters, about 10 minutes

Following the same road you find station III at the hotel "Hotel Seevilla".

Station III to station IV:

1.500 meters, about 30 minutes

From the hotel leads the path passing the tennis courts along the lake, called "Brahms-Weg", in direction to the church. From the church follow the promenade around the lake, which is called "Adrian-Werburg-Promenade", until you reach station IV.

Station IV to station V:

1.500 meters, about 45 minutes

After station number IV you have to carry on this promenade passing the restaurant "Kalßeneck" until a turn to the left. This path leads to the path "Arneth-Weg" in the forest. In particular for this part of the route firm footwear is recommended. After about 1500 meters you will reach station V dedicated to "Christl Kerry".

Before there is a turn to a place called "Kleiner Künstlerblick" at the chaple "Kalvarienbergkapelle" and leads after 100 meters again at the church back to the park.

The other version leads you above the chaple through the forest and than along the edge of the wood to station number 5. After this station the road takes you back to the park passing houses and country residences of the area "Posern" back to the starting point.

Tip:
Enjoy the breathtaking area whil walking the VIA ARTIS. Follow the traces of the past of famous people, who found in our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut inspirations for their creatuve activities. The places and houses where they lived at that time are now in private possession. Therefore please respect that you can only observe them from outside.
