On 1 January 2026, tourism cooperation in the Salzkammergut was reorganised through the establishment of Salzkammergut Tourismus-Marketing GmbH and the merger of six tourism associations. A total of 36 municipalities are now united under a single tourism organisation. The aim is to pool the region’s resources, further enhance the Salzkammergut’s international profile and jointly drive forward tourism development.

The Salzkammergut is one of Austria’s leading tourist regions. With its unique blend of lakes, mountains, culture and living traditions, it delights visitors from both home and abroad. The region records around 1.2 million visitor arrivals and approximately 5.5 million overnight stays each year.
