Artfully decorated eggs, decorative items for indoors and outdoors and lots of Easter traditions are on offer in the springtime-decorated halls of the old paper mill. Crafts on display, a show bakery and the “Dancing Bunnies” provide entertainment for the whole family and awaken the joy of spring and Easter.

Special exhibition "Bukovina Easter eggs"

This special exhibition combines culture and history with artistic craftsmanship. In professional painting demonstrations, an artist couple shows the elaborate techniques of Bukovina, a region known for its elaborately decorated Easter eggs. Visitors can watch how the intricate patterns are created and learn more about the background to this traditional art.

Bukovina Easter eggs, also known as "pysanky", are known for their elaborate decorations. Fine patterns are applied using the wax reserve technique and the eggs are then dipped in dye baths, creating multi-colored patterns. The typical motifs such as religious symbols, geometric shapes and plants represent faith, health and happiness.

The event is complemented by a special exhibition designed by Mr. Herbert Riess from Vorchdorf, who explores the topic of migration and the history of Bukovina from an artistic and historical perspective. Riess' works provide insights into the personal and collective fates of the people who were affected by these historical events and invite reflection.

The exhibition is also a historical “search for traces” and is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the theme “Called - Forcibly Shipped - Resettled - Resettled - Fled.” This history of migration refers to the turbulent past of Bukovina and the migrations, resettlements and flight movements experienced by many of its inhabitants.
