Christmas Oratorio

Christmas oratorio with choir and orchestra by Simon Zimmermann in the pilgrimage church of St. Wolfgang.

Following a very successful premiere in December 2022, the St. Wolfgang Tourist Board and St. Wolfgang Market Association are presenting a new edition of the St. Wolfgang Christmas Oratorio for choir and orchestra by Simon Zimmermann. The Christmas story is told in the form of an oratorio in which recitatives, i.e. spoken parts, alternate with vocal pieces and instrumental passages. Stylistically, the work is broadly diversified. There are elements from the classical-romantic musical tradition, but also groovy sections from the world of pop and jazz.

The vocal soloist will be star tenor August Schramm.

In just under an hour, the mixed choir and the Musikverein St. Wolfgang will demonstrate their versatility in an appealing composition that bows to the Christmas story with verve and depth. Conductor Simon Zimmermann.
