Short description:
This theme path leads from the beginning of the lake till the last part of the village and end of the lake Gößl. Furthermore you can extend your tour with a small walk to the Toplitzsee. There are 7 stations on the way informing about popular artists in Grundlsee.

Description:
Already in the 19th century the archduke "Erzherzog Johann" discoverd the Ausseerland as its place to rest, relax and find peace in the middle of this beautiful landscape.

Many artists, such as actors, poets and painters, as well as scientists and scholars came to our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut.

The VIA ARTIS presents the traces of these famous people in our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut, which chose this place as their adopted place of resicdence. While enjoying the unique beauty of the entire landscape you will discover many things about the historical and cultural past.

Directions:
Station I to station II:

300 meters, about 10 minutes

Along the street "Kronprinz-Rudolf-Straße" passing the building "Kaiserlicher Stall", where often take place interesting exhibitions, twice to the left in direction to Villa Karajan.

Station II to station III:

2200 Meter, about 40 minutes

After a short uphill to the right you walk parallel to the lake on a hill towards the church.

Station III to station IV:

3000 Meter, about 50 minutes

From the station III leads the path further on the promenade, a part of it is called "Johannes-Ude-Weg". Via the area "Rösslern" and "Gaiswinkel" you will reach a house called "Polly-Hütte", which was the former residence of the actress Jutta Bornemann. Further close to the sport area "Eisbahn" is the station IV.

Station IV to station V:

200 meters, about 10 minutes

From station IV the path leads downwards to the lake. At the entrance to the so-called "Gabillon-Haus" is located station V.

Station V to station VI:

1000 meters, about 30 minutes

After station V along the rink passing a small chapel called "Kreuzkapelle" we walk to the area called "Schachen".

Station VI to station VII:

300 meters, about 40 minutes

The way leads first on a pavement next to the main road, than to the right via a housing estate to the area "Gößl" where there is also the station for the lake cruise. Following the road to the village passing the church soon you will reach the last station.

Tip:
Enjoy the breathtaking area whil walking the VIA ARTIS. Follow the traces of the past of famous people, who found in our region Ausseerland - Salzkammergut inspirations for their creatuve activities. The places and houses where they lived at that time are now in private possession. Therefore please respect that you can only observe them from outside.
