Honorary citizen and long-time spa director Karl Pilz dedicated
The municipality of Bad Goisern has marked out a circular hiking trail (yellow signs) on existing walking paths. It is named after the deserving former spa director and honorary citizen Karl Pilz. Karl Pilz (1909-1993) worked as spa director in Bad Goisern from 1957-1974 and made lasting contributions to the development of tourism.
The best place to park is at the parking Mitte. Cross the B 145 and walk behind the Hofer on the Hofrat-Renner-Weg to Lasern. Continue left for about 300 m down Lasernstraße before turning right into Hörmannsbergweg.
Follow the signs until you reach the district of Primesberg. You pass the Vivea Gesundheitshotel and finally arrive behind the hotel on the Eidenbergerweg to Anzenau.
Now cross the B 145 once again and turn right. Pass the railway station Jodschwefelbad and follow the sidewalk to Weißenbach. Turn right and cross the Weißenbach bridge to the beginning of the Brine Pipeline Trail, which leads you to Wildpfad. Below the path is a side arm of the Traun, where wild ducks and swans like to stay. A short break invites you to observe. Behind it flows the Traun river.
When you step out of the Brine Pipeline Trail, which was cut out of the eastern slope of the Hammerberg, the Goiserer Basin opens up in front of you, which is bordered in the southeast by the 1976 m high Sarstein. Continuing under the Jochwand, you will see the Kalmberge (Hoher Kalmberg 1.833 m), the western border of our municipal territory. If you let your view wander to the left, you will see the Vivea Gesundheitshotel on the sunny side, which you passed earlier, and above it the imposing mountain and fairytale trail Bad Goisern through the Eternal Wall (Ewige Wand).
The trail continues past the Health Center Hanuschhof to the Inn Rassingmühle, an old traditional inn next the Traun river, where you are already close to the center of Bad Goisern. The path over the bridge "Sophienbrücke" would take you there. The Karl Pilz Circular Walk, however, leads up through the forest "Maiswald", past the rest hut, where several paths merge, to the Unterjoch shooting club. There you leave the Alpenhotel Dachstein on the top right and hike along the "Langfeldweg" and the "Rastlhochfeld" to the bridge "Schüttbachbrücke", where you cross the road to the Nordic Center (ski jump, Trockentann toboggan run, cross country skiing trails) or to the Goiserer Hut.
Coming out of the small forest you reach the idyllic village of Ramsau via the fields. Walk a short distance downhill and then turn left to the Giselawarte which is named after a daughter of Emperor Franz Josef, the wife of Prince Leopold of Bavaria.
Enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the Lake Hallstatt, Sandling, Sarstein, Krippenstein and Ramsau mountains. Three benches invite you to linger.
Then continue left and after a few meters you will reach the path "Protzweg" down over the village of Gschwandt to the Görb bridge. You now have to follow the sidewalk next to the B 166 for a short distance before you turn left into "Obere Marktstraße". At the Schneiderwirt in Stambach turn right towards Wiesen. Before the underpass of the B145 turn left and follow the old church path to the Stambach bridge. The Stambachgraben leads you along the Stambach stream. You are now on one of the most beautiful places in the sunny side. Finally you will reach the starting point Lasern again.
