The Filbling, with its unique mountain lake, the Filblingsee, and a breathtaking view, is a ‘must-see’ for any hiking enthusiast.

Walking time for the circular route: 5 hours
Length: 11.5 km
Elevation gain: 550 m

Faistenau town centre – towards the Ramsau district – to the Schmied farm – Sattelalm to Filblingsee – turn right before the lake – towards Fuschl am See – or left towards Hof bei Salzburg.
Option to go via Schmiedhorn to the district of Wald or back to Faistenau.

From Fuschl am See: Wolfgangseebundesstraße / Oberbrunnweg No. 23 / Filblingstraße – along the forest track to Filblingsee – then along the path to the summit.
On the way back, head towards Hof bei Salzburg until you reach the Fuschlseerundweg – from there, it’s possible to continue to Fuschl am See

Elevation gain: 500 m

From Hof bei Salzburg: town centre – continue towards Mitterau – then cross Hinterseestraße – and carry on along the Fiblingkamm to the summit.

By car:
Arrival via the West motorway A1, junction Thalgau.
Follow the main road (B 158) in direction to Hof bei Salzburg until you reach the traffic circle “Baderluck”. At the first junction turn into the main road (Hinterseestraße) and after a few kilometers you reach your holiday destination Faistenau.
There are plenty of parking areas near the starting points.

With the Postbus
From Salzburgs bus station, opposite the train station, there is a good bus connection into the
Fuschlsee region and also to Faistenau. You will find details in internet under www.svv-info.at.

By Air
Salzburg Airport lies very close to Salzburg city. The Bus Nr. 2 brings you from the airport to the main station where you change to continue with the post bus.
